Our Staff
Rev. Dr. Shannon Smythe is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary (MDiv, 2006; PhD, 2013), her vocational journey over the past decade has provided her with a rich variety of ministry opportunities in both the church and theological academy. An experienced teacher and published author, she has served in roles ranging from church administrator to theology professor for undergraduate and seminary students to pastor in two churches. These experiences have forged in her a strong commitment to ministry and pastoral leadership that is thoughtful, creative, and just. She enjoys working with a cross-section of generations, innovating, and helping congregants experience the freedom that comes in forsaking a preoccupation with institutional survival. Rev. Dr. Smythe loves that the church is the one institution on the planet that exists precisely for those who do not yet belong to it.
