Welcome!
You have come to hear the Word of God, and you shall hear it read and preached.
But we hope that by hearing it, you will also meet the Word of God, the Living
Word, Jesus, our Master and Savior. And we pray that you will leave our church
equipped to serve him more faithfully and effectively.

CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader:
Sometimes God has revealed himself in
dramatic ways: in a burning bush, a parting sea,
or a blinding light.
People: Sometimes
we can see God in more subtle ways, if only we notice the colors of a sunrise, the sparkling waves, the
glorious diversity of God’s children.
Leader:
Let us open our eyes and our hearts to
be aware of God’s presence.
People: Let
us worship and celebrate God, who is revealed in the beauty of creation.

My God” 198
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER
OF CONFESSION
Gentle and healing God, we thank you that you fill our
senses with signs, sounds, and expressions to remind us that you are always
with us. Too often we are blind to your
presence in our lives. Forgive us when
we do not see the miracles that regularly take place in our midst. Have mercy on us when we look at our
neighbors and do not recognize your beloved children. Touch us with your healing grace so that we
can proclaim with Mary, “I have seen the Lord!” in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
SILENT PRAYER
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
*GIVE GLORY TO GOD “Hear
the Good News of Salvation” 355
Hear the good news of salvation: Jesus died to show
God’s love.
Such great kindness!
Such great mercy! Come to us from
heaven above.
Jesus Christ, how much I love You! Jesus Christ, You save from sin!
How I love You!
Look upon me. Love me still and
cleanse within.
WE HEAR GOD’S WORD TO US
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
LESSON FROM THE PROPHETS Pg. 635 Isaiah 55:1-9
55 Ho, everyone who thirsts,
come to
the waters;
and you
that have no money,
come, buy
and eat!
Come, buy
wine and milk
without
money and without price.
2 Why
do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
3 Incline
your ear, and come to me;
listen, so that you may live.
I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
my steadfast, sure love for David.
4
See, I made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander for the peoples.
5 See,
you shall call nations that you do not know,
and nations that do not know you shall run to you,
because of the Lord
your God, the Holy One of
for he has glorified you.
6 Seek
the Lord while he may be found,
call upon him while he is near;
7 let the wicked forsake
their way,
and the unrighteous their thoughts;
let them return to the Lord,
that he may have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For
my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord.
9 For
as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

ANTHEM
Bill Beitmann, piano; Greg Foster, flute
LESSON FROM THE PSALMS Pg. 498 Psalm
63:1-8
1 O
God, you are my God, I seek you,
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So
I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
3 Because
your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4 So
I will bless you as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands and call on your name.
5 My
soul is satisfied as with a rich feast,
and my mouth praises you with joyful lips
6 when
I think of you on my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7 for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.
8 My
soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD
*AFFIRMATION
OF FAITH—Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the
Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son
our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended
into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall
come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy
Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of
sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

*PRAYER
TO DEDICATE OUR GIFTS
Sometimes we scurry so for joy that we forget what it
feels like. Sometimes
we work so hard for peace that we neglect the peace that is sitting with us in
our chair. Sometimes we hope so much for hope that we miss the hopeful signs
that are right underfoot. And sometimes
we are so urgent for a gift that we forget to give. Let this day be different, O God. Let us give freely, as freely as you are able
to receive. Amen.

neighbor? What's the key to having our prayers answered? If you

have to do with Monday morning? Join us in the Bertolet Lounge on
Sundays at 9:45 a.m.
