Jesus wanted to be a guest at Zacchaeus’ house, even if he wasn’t the perfect follower. And although most of us are not as unscrupulous as Zacchaeus was rumored to be, we like Zacchaeus are not perfect. We try our best, but usually fall short. Despite the murmurs of the crowd, Jesus wanted to stay with Zacchaeus. Jesus saw more than what the town folk saw, he saw Zaccheus not just for who he was, but what he could become.
What do you do when you are expecting company?
You clean the house!
That’s just what Zacchaeus did. Only he cleaned himself up on the inside first. He fessed up to his wayward ways and promised to live a faithful life. We all have qualities that bring us closer to God, but we also have our shortcomings. Meeting Christ changes us and makes us aware of our tarnished spots that need cleaning. Luckily, Jesus is a great house guest and helps us to make a pure heart worthy for God to call home.
Jesus wants to come to your house today!
All you have to do is ask him in, he’ll help with the cleaning!
