Ok, now when you hear the word heaven what’s the first thing that comes to your mind?
I gotta tell you the first thing I think about is clouds….that’s my point of reference.
But when I read, and reread this week’s passage it got me to thinking…Jesus went THERE to prepare a PLACE for us….
What kind of place do you think he’s prepared for us?
When we prepare for something or someone we thing about what they would like right? Even when you’re going to welcome a new baby into your house – you don’t know what they’re going to like BUT you prepare their room FOR THEM.
How about when you prepare special meal – a birthday or anniversary dinner? You prepare it keeping the person for whom you’re preparing it for in mind – it matters right?
So we know that Jesus has prepared or is preparing a place for us in HIS home.
He also gave us directions to his house right? Anybody remember the way to get there?
Yup – He is the way, the truth and the life…so basically if we follow these directions we’re going to get to heaven and see the place Jesus has prepared for us.
Even though Big House wasn’t the winning song, it was played this morning. The lyrics put a picture in my head of what His house looks like so I got to thinking how can we decide what room we’ll spend our time in once we get to heaven?
If you think about some of the rooms He might prepare for us: a family room, an outside area, kitchen, or reading room – which room would you choose to spend some of your time in? Think about it, what room would Jesus prepare for you?
